Updated AI Visibility

Prompt Discovery Overview

The Discovery page helps you find new AI search queries to track. Instead of guessing what users ask AI platforms, Surva.ai surfaces real prompts from competitor data, related questions discovered during scans, and trending topics in your industry. Open it from AI Visibility > Discovery in the sidebar or click the Discover Prompts button on the Prompts page.

Summary Stats

Four cards across the top show:

  • Untracked Prompts - prompts discovered from competitors that you are not yet tracking
  • High Priority - prompts with a priority score of 50 or higher, indicating strong tracking value
  • Related Questions - questions surfaced from AI platform responses to your existing prompts
  • Trending Prompts - AI queries growing in popularity across your industry

Discovering Prompts from Competitors

A gradient banner at the top lets you run a competitor-based discovery scan. Select a competitor from the dropdown (only competitors with deep tracking enabled appear) and click Discover Prompts. Surva.ai queries the DataForSEO LLM Mentions API to find prompts where the competitor appears across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.

Each scan returns up to 100 mentions per platform, deduplicated by question text. Results are saved and scored automatically. If you have no competitors with deep tracking enabled, the banner shows a link to the Competitors page to get started.

Discovery Cooldown

A 2-day cooldown applies per competitor between scans. If you try to scan before the cooldown expires, cached results are shown with a message indicating when the next scan is available.

Tab 1: Competitor Prompts

The primary tab shows prompts discovered from competitor scans. Filter by text search or priority level (High, Medium, Low, or All). A counter at the top shows your tracked vs total plan limit (for example, "Tracked: 18 / 30").

Each prompt card displays:

  • Priority badge - High (red, score 70+), Medium (amber, score 50-69), or Low (gray, below 50)
  • AI search volume - estimated monthly AI searches for this query
  • Platform icon - which AI platform the prompt was discovered from
  • Question text - the actual prompt users are asking
  • Competitor source - which competitor triggered the discovery
  • Also mentions - other brand entities mentioned in the AI response (up to 5 shown, with "+N more" overflow)

The first 25 prompts load initially, with a Show More button to load the next 25.

Priority Scoring

Each discovered prompt receives a priority score (0-100) based on three components:

  • AI Search Volume (30%) - higher monthly AI search volume scores higher, maxing at 30 points for 1,000+ searches
  • Competitor Coverage (30%) - more competitors mentioned means higher value, maxing at 30 points for 5+ competitors
  • Own Brand Gap (40%) - prompts where your brand is NOT mentioned get the full 40 points, since these represent the biggest opportunities

Prompts scoring 70 or above are flagged as High Priority and should be tracked first.

Prompt Detail Panel

Click the eye icon on any prompt to open a slide-out detail panel showing:

  • Platform, priority, and AI volume badges
  • The question text
  • Response tab - the full AI-generated answer rendered as formatted markdown, plus competitors mentioned and related follow-up questions
  • Citations tab - source URLs the AI cited, each with a numbered position badge, title, domain, and snippet
  • A full-width Track This Prompt button showing your remaining prompt quota

Shows questions surfaced from AI responses to your existing tracked prompts. These are follow-up queries and variations that real users are asking. Each card shows the question text, how many times it was seen across scans, the source platform, and a Track button.

If no related questions have been collected yet, a Scan for Related Questions button triggers an aggregation across your existing data.

Tracking Discovered Prompts

Click Track on any discovered prompt to add it to your monitored keywords. For competitor prompts, tracking creates a keyword entry and marks the discovered mention as tracked so it no longer appears in the untracked list. For related questions and trending prompts, tracking redirects to the Add Prompt page with the text pre-filled.

Bulk tracking is available for competitor prompts - select up to 20 prompts at once. Tracked prompts count against your plan's keyword limit.

Discovery Credits

Each discovery scan uses credits from your monthly allowance:

PlanMonthly Discovery Credits
Free10
Starter ($59/mo)30
Growth ($99/mo)100
Business ($299/mo)500

Requirements

Competitor prompt discovery requires at least one competitor with deep tracking enabled. Without deep tracking, the discovery button shows an error: "AI Mentions discovery requires Deep Tracking. Enable it in Competitors page." Related questions and trending prompts do not require deep tracking.
