Account Setup and Brand Configuration

Configure your Surva.ai account, add brands, set up multi-brand tracking for agencies, manage team members, and choose your subscription plan. Complete onboarding guide.

Account Overview

Your Surva.ai account is the central hub for all your AI visibility tracking. Each account can manage one or more brands, invite team members, and configure billing. All data is isolated per brand so agencies can track multiple clients from one login.

Onboarding Flow

When you first sign up or add a new brand, Surva.ai walks you through a two-step onboarding process:

  1. Company Information - enter your brand name, website domain, industry, geo focus, and business type (SaaS, ecommerce, local service, healthcare, agency, or other). For local and regional businesses, you can also set a primary location and service radius. Surva.ai then crawls up to 10 pages of your website and sends the content to GPT-4o to extract your target audience, brand voice, mission statement, value propositions, key differentiators, and suggested keywords.
  2. Keywords and Competitors - review the AI-suggested keywords and competitors based on the website analysis. Keyword suggestions are enriched with real search volume data from DataForSEO when available. Edit your brand overview, add or remove items, then click finish. Your remaining keyword quota is shown based on your plan.

After completing onboarding, Surva.ai automatically seeds your brand profile, creates 12 default content writing rules (to avoid AI-sounding cliches like em-dashes and overused phrases), sets a weekly summary as your default notification, and triggers background data collection across all AI platforms. You are redirected to your dashboard immediately while data loads in the background.

Brand Settings

Open brand settings from the sidebar by clicking your brand name. The settings page has four tabs:

  • Website Messaging - shows landing page data for your own brand domain
  • Settings - edit brand name, domain, logo, category, industry, geo focus, brand overview, target country and language, business type and subtype, service area type, primary location, and service radius
  • AI Profile - view and edit writing style fields extracted during onboarding: brand voice, target audience, value propositions, key differentiators, mission statement, tone examples, and avoided phrases. A completion percentage shows how many fields are filled in.
  • Content Rules - manage the 12 default rules plus any custom rules you add. Toggle rules on or off and view hit counts from content scans.

Brand Sync Status

Each brand shows a sync status indicator: Pending (no data yet), Syncing (refresh in progress), Synced (up to date), or Error (last refresh failed). You can check the current status from the API at /api/brands/sync-status, which returns the status, last sync timestamp, and boolean flags for each state.

Multi-Brand Support

Agencies and multi-product companies can add additional brands from the brand switcher in the sidebar. Each brand has completely isolated data including prompts, competitors, mentions, citations, content, and insights. Switch between brands instantly using the dropdown.

Adding a New Brand

When you create a brand, Surva.ai automatically:

  • Cleans and validates the domain
  • Fetches your brand favicon and sets it as the brand logo
  • Crawls up to 10 important pages from your website and seeds them as tracked URLs
  • Creates an "own brand" competitor record for self-comparison in visibility calculations
  • Generates your brand profile using GPT-4o (target audience, voice, differentiators, value propositions)
  • Seeds 12 default content writing rules to avoid AI-sounding patterns
  • Switches your session to the new brand immediately

Onboarding Checklist

After brand creation, a 5-step checklist tracks your setup progress: add keywords, add competitors, view opportunities, track your first keyword, and create content. Steps are auto-completed as you use the platform.

Team Members

Go to Team from the account menu to manage your team. Each member has a role (owner or custom), timezone, and individual alert preferences. The account owner role cannot be changed. Team limits depend on your plan - Starter allows 2 members, Growth allows 5, and Business allows 10.

Notification Preferences

Each team member can configure individual alert preferences from the Team page. Available alert types include:

  • New Ads - alerts when competitors launch new ads
  • Keyword Surges - alerts for rapidly rising keyword trends
  • AI Visibility - alerts for visibility changes in AI platform responses
  • Competitor Movement - alerts for competitor activity changes
  • Ranking Changes - alerts for organic ranking shifts
  • Daily Digest - a daily summary email of all changes
  • Weekly Digest - a weekly summary email (enabled by default)

Billing and Subscription

Visit Billing to manage your subscription. All plans include a 7-day free trial (card required for verification, no upfront charge). Both monthly and annual billing cycles are available. From the billing page you can:

  • View your current plan, status, and next billing date
  • Upgrade or downgrade plans with automatic proration
  • Access the Stripe Customer Portal to update payment methods
  • View invoice history with PDF download links

API Access

For programmatic access to your data, generate API keys from the settings page. API access is available on the Business plan. See the API Reference for available endpoints.
