Keywords and Topics
Keywords (also called Topics or Prompts) in Surva.ai represent the search terms and phrases you want to monitor across AI platforms and traditional search. For each keyword, Surva.ai collects AI visibility data, organic ranking positions, trend data, CPC information, and competitor activity.
Adding Keywords
Navigate to Prompts in the sidebar and click Add Prompt. The add page offers two methods:
- Research LLM Topics - Enter a seed topic and Surva.ai expands it into AI prompt variations using AI. Select the suggestions you want and add them in bulk.
- Direct Add - Type a specific keyword or prompt and add it immediately.
Keywords count against your plan limits: Starter supports 30 keywords, Growth supports 75, and Business supports 250. Your remaining quota is shown on the add page.
Data Collected Per Keyword
For each tracked keyword, Surva.ai collects and displays:
- Your Visibility - Percentage of AI platforms that mention your brand for this keyword, shown as a circular progress indicator
- Trend Score - Search interest momentum displayed as a 5-bar indicator. Keywords with a trend score of 70+ get a "Hot" badge.
- AI Engines - Icons showing which platforms responded: Google AI Overview, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini
- Opportunity Score - A measure of improvement potential shown as a 5-bar indicator (green for 60+, amber for 20-60)
- CPC - Cost-per-click from paid search data indicating commercial intent
- Search Volume - Estimated monthly searches
- Competitor Count - Number of competitors mentioned in AI responses for this keyword
- All Brands - Favicon icons of every brand mentioned across AI responses
Topic Detail Page
Click any keyword row to open its detail page. The detail page includes:
- Trend line chart - Search interest over the last 12 weeks with per-platform breakdown
- AI Response viewer - Full AI-generated responses from each platform with your brand and competitors highlighted
- Active ads - Competitor ads running for this keyword with headlines, descriptions, and landing page URLs
- Organic ranking positions - Your position and competitor positions in Google search results
- Brand mentions - Which brands each AI platform mentions and how they are described
- Related opportunities - Recommended actions based on competitive gaps for this keyword
Organizing with Tags
Use tags to group keywords by product line, funnel stage, content theme, or any custom category. Tags allow you to:
- Filter the Prompts table to show only keywords in a specific group
- Filter citations and visibility data by topic area
- Organize reporting by segment
Apply tags individually by clicking the tag icon on a keyword row, or use bulk edit mode to tag multiple keywords at once. The tag filter dropdown at the top of the Prompts page lets you switch between tag views.
Data Refresh
Keyword data refreshes automatically based on your plan: every 2 days for Starter and Growth, daily for Business. You can also trigger a manual refresh for any individual keyword using the refresh icon in the Actions column.
When AI platforms are queried, Surva.ai records the full response text, brand mentions, citations, and sentiment. This data powers the Visibility Score, Share of Voice, and Answer Gap calculations across the platform.
Removing Keywords
Delete a keyword by clicking the trash icon in its row. A confirmation dialog lists all data that will be permanently removed: topic data, ad history, organic ranking data, AI visibility results, trend data, and competitor keyword associations.
