Updated Competitors

Competitor Dashboard

The Competitor Dashboard is your central hub for monitoring all competitor activity across paid advertising, AI visibility, organic rankings, and landing page changes. It brings together competitive data from multiple sources into a single view so you can respond quickly to competitor moves and identify strategic opportunities.

Accessing the Dashboard

Navigate to Competitor Intel > Competitors to see your list of tracked competitors. The main view shows all competitors in a sortable, filterable table.

Competitor List

The main table shows all your tracked competitors with key metrics at a glance:

  • Domain - Competitor's website URL
  • AI Visibility - Their share of AI mentions across all tracked prompts
  • Active Ads - Number of currently detected Google Ads
  • Keywords - Count of organic keywords they rank for that overlap with yours
  • Status - Active tracking, deep tracking enabled (indicated by PRO badge), or paused
  • Last Updated - When data was last refreshed for this competitor

Click any column header to sort. Use the search bar to filter competitors by domain or name.

Competitor Detail Page

Click any competitor to open their detail page, which is organized into tabs covering every dimension of their competitive activity:

  • Key metrics summary showing ads, AI visibility, and ranking counts
  • AI visibility trend chart showing their mention frequency over the past 30/60/90 days
  • Recent activity feed highlighting new ads, ranking changes, and AI visibility shifts
  • Head-to-head comparison with your brand across all metrics

Adding Competitors

To add a new competitor:

  1. Click Add Competitor on the Competitors page
  2. Enter the competitor's domain (e.g., competitor.com)
  3. Optionally enter their brand name for more accurate mention detection
  4. Click Save

Data collection begins immediately. Initial AI visibility and organic ranking data typically appears within 24 hours. Ad data populates on the next scheduled ads scan.

All plans support up to 150 total competitors. However, deep tracking (enhanced monitoring with ads and landing page details) has separate limits by plan.

Auto-Discovery

You do not need to manually add every competitor. Surva.ai automatically discovers competitors through multiple channels:

  • AI response mentions - When a brand appears in AI responses for your tracked prompts, it is flagged as a potential competitor
  • Search overlap - Domains that rank for the same organic keywords you track
  • Ad overlap - Advertisers running Google Ads on keywords in your category

Auto-discovered competitors appear in a suggestions list. You can add them to your tracked list or exclude them if they are not relevant. Excluded competitors will not be suggested again.

Deep Tracking

Enable deep tracking for your most important competitors to get enhanced monitoring. Deep tracking adds:

  • Weekly ad library updates - Full ad creative scan every Sunday at 3 AM ET
  • Daily landing page monitoring - Landing page snapshots captured daily at 5 AM ET
  • Landing page change detection - Automated alerts when competitors change their messaging, pricing, or features
  • Ad swipe file - All ads saved to your Ad Swipe File for creative inspiration

Deep tracking limits by plan:

  • Starter - Deep tracking not available
  • Growth - Up to 15 competitors with deep tracking
  • Business - Up to 50 competitors with deep tracking

To enable deep tracking, toggle the deep tracking switch on any competitor's detail page or on the main competitor list. See Deep Tracking for complete details.

Competitor Comparison

Compare any two competitors side by side:

  1. Select competitors from the list using checkboxes
  2. Click Compare
  3. View a side-by-side comparison of AI visibility, ad activity, organic rankings, and messaging themes

This is useful for understanding relative strengths, identifying which competitors dominate specific topics, and spotting gaps in their strategies you can exploit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many competitors should I track?

Start with your 5-10 most important direct competitors. You can add more over time as you discover them through auto-discovery or market research. Quality of tracking matters more than quantity.

What is the difference between regular and deep tracking?

Regular tracking monitors AI visibility, organic rankings, and basic ad presence. Deep tracking adds weekly ad library scans, daily landing page snapshots, and change detection. Deep tracking requires a Growth or Business plan.

How often is competitor data refreshed?

AI visibility and organic ranking data follows your plan's refresh schedule (every 2 days for Starter/Growth, daily for Business). Deep tracking ad scans run weekly and landing page scans run daily on their own schedules.

Can I track competitors in different industries?

Yes. All competitors are tracked within your brand context. You can add any domain as a competitor, regardless of industry. This is useful for tracking adjacent markets or aspirational competitors.
